Preparing your Property

Architectural photography is a specialized field that requires careful planning, attention to detail, and creativity. Here are some tips that might help you get ready for your photoshoot:

Clean and declutter the space. Remove any unnecessary or distracting items, such as wires, trash cans, personal belongings, etc. Make sure the surfaces are dust-free and the windows are clear. A clean and tidy space will look more professional and inviting.

Arrange the furniture and accessories. Depending on the style and purpose of your property, you might want to create different settings and scenarios that showcase its functionality and appeal. For example, you could set up a meeting room with laptops, tablets, and a presentation on the screen, or a kitchen with people using the appliances and utensils. Try to avoid empty or overcrowded spaces, and balance the symmetry and asymmetry of the elements.

Add some life and color. People are an essential part of architectural photography, as they help to convey the scale, context, and atmosphere of the space. You can ask your staff or volunteers to act as models and pose in various ways, such as walking, working, talking, etc. Make sure they wear appropriate and coordinated outfits, and avoid logos or patterns that might clash with the background. You can also use plants, flowers, art, and other props to add some color and interest to the space.

Choose the best time and weather. The natural light and weather conditions can have a significant impact on the mood and quality of your photos. Depending on the orientation and location of your property, you might want to shoot at different times of the day, such as sunrise, midday, or sunset, to capture the best lighting and shadows.
